may's ceo update on covid 19

From the Desk of the CEO

Dear Members,

I hope you are all safe and well.  Last week, the Welsh Government made its latest review of the COVID-19 lockdown.  First Minister, Mark Drakeford announced some very minor changes to lockdown rules, but the message from the Welsh Government remains to stay home and only go outside for food shopping, essential work and exercise.  As a result, this means that all Badminton activity in Wales remains suspended until further notice.  Further events postponed: -

One change to the Welsh Government’s guidelines on exercise were very much welcomed. The freedom to exercise more than once a day.  Badminton Wales encourages its members to take advantage of the increased opportunity to exercise, but please do keep adhering to social distancing rules and practice good hygiene -  Welsh Government Regulation.  Sport Wales along with all National Governing Bodies across the Sector are having positive ongoing engagement with Welsh Government to consider when and how Sport in Wales is able to return safely from this crisis.  Badminton Wales will update the Badminton Community when more information becomes available.  Leading Wales out of the Coronavirus Pandemic -  A Framework for Recovery

As we all know keeping active has never been so important for physical and mental health, and Welsh sport has a big role to play in helping Wales be active.  #BeActiveWales campaign is a collaboration between numerous partners and Sport Wales.  As the lockdown and social distancing measures remain in Wales, so do the key messages for the #BeActiveWales campaign:
- To encourage activity to enjoy the amazing benefits for both mental and physical health.
- To remind people to stay safe. We can all play our part in following the Welsh Government’s guidelines while we stay active.
- The sector is here to support the public. We want nothing more than for sport in Wales to come out of this in the best shape possible.
