Badminton Wales Support Of Ukad

Badminton Wales support of UKAD

As part of its commitment to providing a safe sport, Badminton Wales has aligned with United Kingdom’s Anti Doping organisation (UKAD) to uphold and adhere to UKAD’s Assurance Framework, which will become an integral part of its operations, in to the future.

UKAD (https://www.ukad.org.uk/) is committed to protecting the right to enjoy clean sport and works extremely hard for all those who love sport.

While often seen as only relevant to “Elite Athletes” UKAD firmly believes that prevention is a more productive method of creating a fair sport and so is committed to provide training opportunities and education courses for everyone involved in sport.  This is relevant to every individual involved in sport at all levels. UKAD and Badminton Wales will work together to help athletes to understand and follow the rules, and UKAD will also employ a “smart testing” programme.

Throughout 2022, Badminton Wales will commit to upholding UKAD’s principles and will report on its work throughout the year.  Designated staff, both on the Board and in the Office, will be identified and will co-ordinate efforts giving an annual overview of activities.  Points of contacts will made available to all – members and non-members alike.  We will undertake all legal and moral obligations relating to Anti Doping to ensure or sport retains its integrity.

We will develop a Clean Sport education Strategy and provide opportunities for individuals to increase their awareness.

We will make the ability to report anything easier and provide links through UKAD, to aspects such as the Prohibited List and TUE communications.

We will fully support UKAD in any and all Intelligence and Investigations, and give testing support to everyone involved.

4) Explanation of Strict Liability principle.

The principle of strict liability is applied in situations where urine/blood samples collected from an athlete have produced adverse analytical results.

It means that each athlete is strictly liable for the substances found in his or her bodily specimen, and that an anti-doping rule violation occurs whenever a prohibited substance (or its metabolites or markers) is found in bodily specimen, whether or not the athlete intentionally or unintentionally used a prohibited substance or was negligent or otherwise at fault.

100% me – Supporting athletes to be clean

100% me is UKAD’s values-based education and information programme, helping athletes meet their anti-doping responsibilities throughout their sporting journey. We want all athletes to be clean, stay clean and believe all others are clean. For more information on what this means, visit UKAD’s website. UKAD’s 100% me Clean Sport App can also be downloaded from iTunes, Google Play or Windows Live Store, for essential anti-doping information.

Protect Your Sport

Protecting clean sport depends on everyone playing their part – athletes, coaches, or parents – whether on centre stage or behind the scenes. Speak out if you feel there’s something wrong – no matter how small. UKAD guarantee that your identity will always be kept 100% confidential. There are different ways to speak out:

  • Email – When you feel something’s wrong, send an email. UKAD guarantee that your name and email address will be kept confidential. Email at protectyoursport@reportdoping.com
  • Online Form – Tell us what you know via our online form on protectyoursport.co.uk. You will remain anonymous as standard, but if you choose to share your details confidentially it could help us catch those in sport who seek to cheat
  • 24/7 Hotline – Call on 08000 32 23 32. We are here to listen. If you prefer to remain 100% anonymous you can. Or if you share your details, they will be kept confidential, and may help keep sport clean
