The Cardiff Games Finals were held on 24th June at Talybont Campus, Cardiff University. Five schools were successful in getting through to the finals. They were: Whitchurch High School, St Teilo's High School, Cardiff High School, Ysgol Glantaf and Ysgol Plasmawr. The teams included year 7, 8 and 9 pupils and they were entered into 5 different sports. The sports comprised Badminton, Futsal, Table Tennis, Basketball and Athletics. Each team participated in competitions within the 5 sports and gained points for their school.
The badminton competition consisted of matches played to a first to 7 points basis. The points won were collated together to give a school points total. The badminton element was played to a high standard as many of the children attend the 5 x 60 badminton sessions run at the schools. All participating schools demonstrated fair play, team spirit and respect to the other players.
The overall winners of the Cardiff Games 2014 were Cardiff High School with Ysgol Glantaf taking second place.
