Yonex Welsh Nationals 2016 Day 1

Day 1 of the Yonex Junior Welsh Nationals 2016 was exciting to say the least!

The Under 11’s were out in force and showed everyone what a bright future badminton has. 
Brothers Cole and Cade Rees took titles in all three disciplines with Cole coming out trumps in the Singles and Mixed Doubles with partner Saffron Morris. 
Saffron also won the Girls Singles with Maisie Kite as Runner Up, she also came second in the Mixed with Cade Rees. 
In the Boys Doubles all players showed great grit and determination with most matches going to three sets or setting. Cole & Cade Rees face Llwyd Crump & Nye Bennett in an incredible Final which they won 20-22, 21-14, 21-18.

Oliver Stansfield dominated the Under 15 Boys Singles, Doubles and Mixed taking home all three golds. While his Doubles partner, Morgan Harding came away with the Boys Singles and Mixed silver. The pair had some tough matches against twins Dafydd & Iwan Price in both the Singles and the Doubles. All four Boys will be playing up an age group in the Under 17’s on Day 2.

In the Under 15’s Girls event, Abi Cottrill took home three silvers. Lowri Hart won the Girls Singles and Doubles with partner Aimie Whiteman. Aimie then partnered Oliver Stansfield in the Mixed where they took gold.

Tsung Fong Mo took his third Singles title beating doubles partner Matthew Pritchard. The pair went on to win the Doubles without dropping a set, Scott Oates and Andrew Jones came Runners Up. 
Tsung Fong Mo also went on to win the Mixed Doubles with sister, Gean Sou.
