Yonex Junior Welsh Nationals Day 2

Day 2 of the Yonex Junior Welsh Nationals did not disappoint!

The U17 Boys Singles were up first Andrew Oates and Jamie Noble ended had a tough battle in the Semi Finals with Oates coming out on top. Oliver Stansfield continued yesterdays form and won his competitive Semi Final against Tom Sudder. Oates won the first set of the Finals relatively comfortably but Stansfield took it up a notch in the second. However Oates dug deep and came away with the win 21-13, 29-27.

Tom Sudder & Jamie Noble pulled through a close Semi Final against Oliver Stansfield & Morgan Harding which they won 21-18, 21-19 but they lost closely in the Final to Andrew Oates & Joe Cottrill 21-12, 21-19.

Gean Sou Mo justified her top seeding and it was only Runner Up Katie Whiteman who managed to get double digits against her. Gean and Katie later teamed up to win the U17 Girls Doubles where they won all of their games to single figures.

The two Singles winners paired up in the Mixed doubles where they played the two Singles runners-up. Andrew Oates & Gean Sou Mo took home their third gold after beating Oliver Stansfield and Katie Whiteman 21-9 21-12.

Under 13’s saw some hotly contested matches with both singles finals going to three sets. Second seed Daniel Kite won the Boys and Lowri Hart fought her way through against Aimie Whiteman.

Singles Finalists Clarke & Kite teamed up in the Boys Doubles and won their Final 21-13, 21-19 against Archie Bult & Jonathan Ewins.

The Girls Doubles was a group of three which the Whiteman sisters dominated. Aimie & Lucie won without contest while Saffron Morris and Freya Cottrill came Runners Up after defeating Jasmine Owen & Maisie Kite.

The day ended with a thrilling Mixed Doubles Final between Daniel Clarke & Lowri Hart and Jonathan Ewins & Aimie Whiteman. The game went point for point but it was Clarke & Hart who held their nerve to win 23-21, 22-20.
