WINT 2016

Wales have 5 players in the Men's Singles Qualification which will be taking place from 9am on Wednesday, 30th November.
Each of the Men will have first round clashes with English players in their bid for a place in the Main Draw.

Will Kitching our current National Men's Singles Champion has been drawn versus Joshua Young of England in the qualification it will undoubtedly be a tough match and one he will be looking for a positive result and look to get his season up and running.
Joining Will in qualification are Scott Oates his brother Andrew and Tsung Fong Mo all three of them are up against English opposition providing them with a good opportunity versus players in and around their age.

Returning back to tournaments after a year out with injury Dan Font begins his quest of getting back up the rankings and re-establishing himself, Dan will face Heng Lin Ngan of England in the first round of qualification. A good run of rounds will do Dan a world of good to get him back on track with some valuable game time.

Daniel has said: "I'm happy to have avoided the Asian players in the draw but as always I know the Qualifying rounds of the Welsh will be hard. I'll definitely have to play well to make it through to the Main Draw but I'm looking forward to the challenge. It was difficult missing my home International last year and watching from the side lines so I'm excited to be getting back on court this year. "

Only one of the three Women representing Wales in the Singles is in Qualifying; young star Gean Sou Mo.
She will play Kerri Scott of England. It will be a good test for Gean as she looks to break into the senior ranks having experienced considerable success as a junior. Kerri an experienced player will provide tough opposition for Gean as they both battle it out to take on the winner of Nicola Cerfontyne(1) and upcoming English Junior Abigail Holden for a place in the main draw.
The Main Draw, which will be played on Thursday 1st December, sees Jordan Hart, our National Ladies Singles Champion, will play the number 4 seed Lianne Tan of Belgium a player who has vast experience competing at the top level. Jordan will be confident going into the game having had a good start to the season she will be looking to build on those performances at her home tournament. Also in the main draw Aimee Moran who has had some good results overseas this season will be up against Shuo Yun Sung of Taipei it will be unquestionably a tough match however it will be a match that Aimee can really test herself against a style of play she will not be too familiar with.

The doubles events sees both Scott and Andrew Oates in the qualification of Men's Doubles and Tsung Fong Mo and sister Gean Sou Mo in the mixed doubles qualification, both pairs again are up against English opposition which will test their abilities and allow them to see exactly how they match up against other British players.

Performance Manager & National Coach, Matthew Hughes will be coaching the players during the International and said:
"It always an exciting time in the build up to the Welsh International yet again the entry and standard of the tournament is exceptional. The tournament provides an excellent opportunity to showcase world class badminton where our players and coaches can experience and observe what it takes to become an elite badminton player.
