 Wheelchair Sports Spectacular

This year's Arriva Trains Wales Wheelchair Sports Spectacular took place at the National Indoor Athletics Arena, Cardiff on 11th & 12th September 2015. Whilst the event was primarily for people with a physical disability, anyone could attend and try any of the 20 sports on offer. The event provided a great, free opportunity for attendees to discover different sports and find out about local clubs.

Over the two days the event saw a record number of participants with over 570 children and young people attending, with many of the children coming from schools across South Wales. The event was organised by Disability Sport Wales and was sponsored by Arriva Trains Wales and the Rotary Club.

The event was also supported by Deloitte who provided volunteers for the Friday.

Throughout the two days the participants played badminton and thoroughly enjoyed it.

One child said,

“I love playing badminton because it’s fun and I love playing it with my friends.”

A teacher added,

“This event is great as it gives the children the opportunity to try sports they might not otherwise have the opportunity to try. Our children have really enjoyed the day.”
