All four have a breadth of experience having been part of several international events including the London Olympics 2012 and Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2014 and they will now become part of the Bristol Jets teams' volunteers. They travelled to Bristol over the weekend to take part in some training ahead of their debuts.

Andrew Elias told us a bit about the training day.

"At the beginning of the day we met our Line-Judge Team Leader, John Murphy, and also the other 8 English Line-Judges, mostly young 'apprentices' that John had been training over the summer.
After our initial briefing - and a lively 'go around the table' introducing ourselves to help team bonding - we began the Training Session.

Effectively this was a full Dress Rehearsal for the first Home Match of the Bristol Jets which will be a televised live on Monday 9th January 2017. Two County Sides, Avon and Gloucester, played competitively while we worked out walking on/off arrangement, chair positions etc. and, of course, sharpened up our Line-Judging skills.

Overall I think I can speak for all the Welsh Like-Judges and say we had an interesting day out and are all looking forward to Line-Judging the NBL Bristol Jets Home matches early next year."

Each of the Officials are members of the Badminton Line Judges Association of England (BLJAofE) and it is a great opportunity for them to continue working in a sport which they are passionate about!

The BLJAofE have also granted Andrew Elias the opportunity to Line Judge at this months 2016 European Para-Badminton Championships.
David Bayliss will also be Umpiring at the Scottish Grand Prix and Welsh International in November followed by the Welsh Nationals and Icelandic International in January.
