Special Olypmpics

4 Welsh players competed in the badminton events at the Special Olympics GB National Summer Games held in Bath (from 28th August-1st September) and brought back medals in 4 events.

Kevin Egan and doubles partner Lloyd Crawley won gold in the Mens Class 3 event whilst Stephen Davies and Andrew Davies took bronze in the Mens Class 1 event. In the singles, Andrew narrowly missed out on a medal finishing 4th in the Mens Class 2 event but Stephen claimed third place and a bronze medal in the Mens Class 1 event. Lloyd took the top spot in the Mens Class 3 event earning himself yet another gold medal.

Bath 2013 was a great success and we would like to congratulate the players on their medals and achievements.

Lloyd and Stephen will be looking to add to their winning streak at this weekend’s Welsh 4 Nations Para Badminton Championships. The event takes place at Sport Wales National Centre, with a total of 56 competitors from all across the UK and Ireland descending on the capital city. Play for the LD category takes place on Friday evening from 6pm. All other categories will commence at 9am on Saturday. We would like to wish all the competitors the best of luck.
