South Powys Junior Shuttle Series

The 4th  event in the Badminton Wales Junior Shuttle Series took place at Brecon Leisure Centre and Brecon High School on Sunday 29th November. With 63 contestants travelling from all regions of South Wales and neighboring English counties, the tournament consisted of 174 games of competitive badminton.

There were 11 entrants in the U11 boys singles with Llwyd Crump (Gwent) beating Eli Owen (Pembrokeshire) and then Amil Patil and Eshaan Patil won the round robin doubles section to beat Abraham Thomas and Nye Bennett (Hereford/Powys) into second place.


There were 6 entrants in the U13 boys singles with the winner being Tom Funnell (Powys) who beat Arnav Patil in the finals. Tom with partner Nye then went on to win in a closely fought round robin competition in the doubles. The U13 girls competition attracted 5 entrants with Bronte Giddens (Hereford) beating Fearne Williams (South Galmorgan).  Bronte then teamed up with Tiegan Ward (Powys) to beat Hannah Douglas (Pembrokeshire) and Fearne in the doubles.  


The U15 boys competition was a strongly fought age group with 20 entrants. After 3 hours of matches, Ewan Price (Gwent) beat Dylan Wright (South Glamorgan) for the singles title.  


The U15 boys doubles was a closely fought match with Dylan Colmer and William Jowett (South Glamorgan) beating Archie Bult and Jonathan Ewins (Powys /Gwent)  15-13  15-14 in the finals.  


There were 5 entrants in the U15 girls singles with Cherisse Lau (Bridgend) winning the round robin and then Lauren Edwards and Jasmine Owen (Gwent/Pembrokeshire) winning the doubles.  


There were 9 entrants in the U17 boys. The singles final was a tightly fought competition between Tomos Jones and William Hughes with Tomos taking the gold after three games. Rhys Cadwallader-Jones and Rory Brown (Powys) then took the doubles title after a tough round robin challenge.

There were 6 girls in the U17 singles which was won by Rebecca Williams (South Glamorgan) over Chloe Devine (Powys) and then Rebecca was joined by Robbyn Brookes to win the doubles round robin competition with Meg Dingle and Clarisse Bartholomew (Powys) coming in second.
