Excellent performances from Clarke & Kite at West Midlands Bronze

Welsh juniors Daniel Clarke and Daniel Kite competed in Birmingham over the weekend, in the U13 West Midlands Bronze event. Both boys did exceptionally well in both the singles and doubles.

Clarke and Kite both made it into the last 16, however it was unfortunate that Daniel Kite met his doubles partner in the quarter finals as they were both worthy of reaching the semis.  Daniel Clarke proceeded to the next round, however lost in the semi final to Sweetnam of Hertfordshire who then went on to win the gold. In singles, both boys were struggling to keep their clears within the court as the Babolat speed 79 shuttles were far too fast for the hall.

In doubles, the two Daniel's were able to make use of the fast shuttles and attacked intelligently to reach the final where they met the Hertfordshire pair of Sweetnam and Madhukiram. From 19 all, the boys couldn’t quite take the gold losing out 21-19. All in all, a satisfying effort bearing in mind the single game shootouts to 21 in tricky conditions.
