There were eight entries in the U15 boys singles. The top two in each group competed in the semis. Menai Bridge’s Eban Jones beat Max Thomas 15-11, 15-7 and  Nanditha Malagamuwa  (Carmarthen) beat  Johan Varghese (Mold) 15-8, 15-2.  Nanditha took the title, beating Eban 15/7, 15/6, and didn’t drop a single game in the event.  In the 3rd/4th place match Johan beat Max 15-4, 15-9. Prestatyn’s Rhys Shanks  comfortably beat Vardre’s Jake Chow in the 5th/6th place match 15-7, 15-7.

There was a good entry in the U15 girls singles and it was great to see some new players entering the event.  Grace Evans (Connah’s Quay ) was unbeaten overall and took the title beating runner-up Georgia Turvey (Hereford) after a close battle  6/15, 15/12, 15/12.

The U17 girls singles was a straight contest between Hannah Harrison( Llanferres ) who won Gold and Wrexham’s Fallon Roberts taking Silver.

The star of the U17 boys singles was Saahen Shetty  (Wiltshire) who outclassed the competition in his group.  Connah’s Quay’s James Maddocks was a convincing winner of the other group.  In the semis Saahen beat Matthew Swash ( Mold) 15/7, 15/9 and Isaac Loff (Great Orme) won a tense  three setter against James 15/13, 13/15, 15/10. Saahen proved his stamina and consistency triumphing in the final 15-12, 15-13. In the match for 3rd/4th place James played very steadily to beat Matthew  16-14, 15-8.

The U19 boys event was again dominated by Saahen who won the group undefeated.  Max Stone (Connah’s Quay) took a creditable second place having won all his games until coming up against Saahen.

Thanks to Jane Liddle and her team for running the event so smoothly.
