Club Development - Carmarthen

Carmarthen Junior Badminton Club has been successful in a recent community chest grant application in the sum of £604. In the last two years the club’s membership has seen an increase in membership to 24 players but only 5 are girls. The Club’s plan is to run a 10 week course for girls for 2 hours per week to increase female participation in badminton in Carmarthen and surrounding district.

The grant includes for establishing links between the club and local high school 5x60 badminton groups, advertising, shuttles and court hire. The hope is that four girls will be chosen to become Ambassadors of Carmarthen Junior Badminton Club and to fulfil a role as a Badminton Leader, the start of becoming a qualified UKCC coach. The Ambassadors will be presented with a Leader Certificate and Polo Shirt.

The sessions will commence early in the New Year.

Carmarthen Junior Badminton Club plays every Wednesday from 7-9pm at Carmarthen Leisure Centre, Llanstephan Road, Johnstown. You can borrow a racquet so come and have a go.
