The Cardiff Junior Open took place on Sunday 12 th April 2015 at the Sport Wales National Centre, Cardiff. It was only a small turn out, however this took nothing away from the exceptionally high standard of play that took place throughout an enjoyable day of badminton. Play began at 9am, and finished well ahead of schedule at 3pm.

The U13s started off the competition with some extremely tense matches; many going to three and extended play. In the boys singles Daniel Kite came up trumps with a convincing win in the final against Om Reddy. The girls singles proved an interesting mix with siblings Isabella and Saffron Morris battling it out for top place in an exciting three setter. The elder of the two, Isabella, just about managed to take the final couple of points off her sister to gain victory. The scratch partnership of Om Reddy and Ben Somerville managed to gain the boys doubles title, whilst Dylan Colmer and Isabella Morris took the mixed.

However, this was until the girls doubles event where Kelly’s unbeaten record of the day was put to a halt by Gwent pairing Isobel Adams and Bethany Jones who took the title in a tense final.
