There was an excellent day of competition at the Badminton Wales Junior Open Finals in Welshpool at the weekend.

Shreyas Moodalbyle took the U15 boys singles title. After losing to Oliver Stansfield in the group the pair met again in the final and it was Shreyas who was victorious winning a thrilling 3 set encounter 15-12, 9-15, 15-7. Shreyas defeated James Morris at the semi-final stage 15-12, 15-13, with Oliver having a good win against Dhruv Bansal in the other semi 10-15, 15-6, 17-15. Niharika Singh prevailed over Emma Craven in the final of the girls singles with a 15-10, 15-10 victory. Richard Parsons and Peter Montague added the boys doubles title to their name with a straight sets win against Fraser Sudder and Aiden Short 15-6 15-10. James Morris and Megan Pritchard won the U15 mixed with Richard Parsons and Alice Thompson finishing in 2nd position.

Jamie Noble was on fire in the U13 boys singles, not dropping a single game in what turned out to be a very competitive group. Jamie took the title with Elliot Simmonds runner-up. In form player Rhea Hemmadi was too strong for the rest of the field in the girls singles. Rhea defeated doubles partner Erin Rees in the semi-final and then had a straight sets victory against Cerys Brackenbury in the final 15-8, 15-4. Simmonds and Stansfield took the U13 boys doubles with Rees and Hemmadi picking up the U13 girls doubles title. Hemmadi then went on to make it 3 out of 3, teaming up with Elliot Simmonds they beat Iwan Price and Lydia Morris in the final of the mixed doubles 15-9 15-8.
