An update from the Board of Directors:

Lucie Gwilt initially worked as the Badminton Wales Events Officer in 2015 before taking on the Business Support Officer role. Lucie left Badminton Wales at the end of September to pursue an exciting opportunity as Aberystwyth University's Sports Coordinator. We would like to convey our thanks and wish her all the best in her new career.

Hefin Archer Williams who was appointed chair of Badminton Wales Board in a difficult transition period. Hefin has decided to step down as chair with a new baby growing fast and taking up his time as well as his position coming to the end of its 3 year term. Hefin has been a great asset to the board with a wealth of knowledge and specialism in law, we hope that he will stand for re-election in the AGM due to take place on Sunday 29th January 2017 to fulfil the role of Legal Director.

James Thomas who has served as a board member and Vice Chair for over 20 years has decided to step down and not stand for re-election in January. James has been a huge part of the badminton game for many more than his 20 years as a Board Director. James played through the age groups to National Championships and volunteers many hours to support West Wales badminton. James is a great advocate of club and league badminton and spoke very passionately of the great work that many volunteers were putting into the sport week in week out all across Wales.

Geraint Williams has been involved in Badminton Wales for many years and his talented children have come through the pathway to play for Wales. Geraint has served 3 years as the Vice Chair and with his term coming to an end he has decided to step down. Geraint with his brilliant mind in numbers have Badminton Wales a safe pair of hands in managing and overseeing the company finances. The seat of Financial Director will be up for election at the AGM on Sunday 29th January.

With this news comes change to the Badminton Wales Board with the appointment of a new Chair who was voted unanimously on Wednesday 2nd November - Kerry Ann Sheppard and the new Vice Chair, voted unanimously - Catherine McCluskey. Both Kerry Ann and Catherine have a wealth of experience in Business Development and Sport Development and both have been part of the Badminton Wales system as players, coaches, and tutors. Kerry Ann and Catherine are looking forward to driving the company and participation growth alongside a very supportive, diverse and highly skilled and passionate Board.
