Badminton Wales Satellite Centre Support Allocation

Posted by Angela Stevens at 12:09 on 28 September 2018

The Badminton Wales Satellite Centre structure has taken considerable shape over the past few months having been in a process of consultancy with potential Satellite Centres across Wales.

The Satellite Centre structure is an integral part of the Badminton Wales Performance Pathway providing the link between Club/County/Social Badminton to the Regional Academy, the overall vision and aim is to have 3-4 Satellite Centres feeding into the 3 National  Regional Academies. The Satellite Centre structure will provide a focal point for communities to engage into a fun, knowledgeable and progressive Badminton environment.

The work and focus over recent months have taken us a considerable step nearer to the overall vision with the hard work of the five Satellite Centres;  who engaged in dialogue and presented a proposal of their vision and operating costs. Badminton Wales would like to thank the following Satellite Centres and the Lead Coaches for their work and commitment to implementing each respective Satellite Centre.

Carmarthen Juniors – Gary Clarke & James Thomas

NEWBA – Luke Tanner & Committee

Conwy – Joe Hill

Cardiff & Vale – Simon Pill & League Committee

Powys – Genevieve Cutter

October sees the launch of our BWF Coach Education Program with all Satellite Coaches and Regional Academy Coaches coming together for 2 weekends to up skill themselves to BWF Level 1. This course will mark the first of many opportunities which Badminton Wales will be offering and supporting our coaches to enable them to develop our players within their respective performance environments.

Over the coming months Badminton Wales will continue to engage with potential Satellite Centres to develop a funding proposal. For further information on becoming Satellite Centre please contact matt.hughes@badminton.wales. We look forward to working with you.
