Development - Brecon Sports Festival

Thursday 4th July saw the celebration of a Sports Festival in Brecon for Years 1 and 2 of the Brecon primary schools. The festival proved to be a great success and was an excellent way to introduce the children to new sports.

Badminton was amongst the sports on offer and every child enjoyed a session of outwitting the swamp monsters by using various movement skills, practicing their lunges in order to tag the swamp monsters before moving on to keepie uppies and relay games. The children showed an impressive range of skills and were a delight to work with.

The games were all based on the Bisi Programme which has been designed to introduce primary children to badminton in a fun and progressive fashion, linked to the National Curriculum.

The event was organised by Lucy Payne 5*60 officer for Brecon and Nicola Jones, 5*60 officer for Gwernyfed and the outstanding swamp monsters were part of the 5*60 badminton team from Brecon High School and Brecon Junior Club.
