 South Powys Bisi festival

60 children from three South Powys schools attended a fun badminton festival held at the Sport Wales National Centre. The children were from Ysgol Bro Tawe, Ysgol Dyffryn Y Glowyr and Ysgol Golwg Y Cwm. The day started with some fun skill activities which included Keepy ups, Lungeminton, low serves, high serves and Pally Rally. The children rotated around the activities in groups of ten. All of the activities were fun and used the equipment from the BISI resource.

After lunch, the children then used the skills covered in the morning's activities to participate in a fun doubles tournament. A high standard of badminton was played in the tournament and all the children thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Martin Kelly 5 x 60 officer for Ysgol Maes Y Dderwen said,

“It’s good to bring the children to the National Centre for activities as it inspires them to play the sport. Many of the children who attended last year's festival still attend the badminton sessions that run every Monday at Ysgol Maes y Dderwen.”

All of the children received a BISI certificate for participating in the day.
